When creating a membership site, always offer different plans and pricing tiers to appeal to your different categories of audience. Access to specific types of content is then dependent on the plan selected by a member. Membership fees can be a one-off payment or a repeat subscription. And you can even sell products on your membership site to boost your income.
Mechanical Turk: Amazon's Mechanical Turk is a resource for doing human-intelligence tasks, or as the site commonly refers to them, HITs. You get paid a very small fee for any given HIT and you'll need a good deal of volume to make a substantial amount of money. But it is a resource you can use in your spare time to generate a small income online.
Offer career or technical expertise. This may be the most conventional item on this list, but you can use your own career, technical or professional expertise to educate other people on a specific subject. For example, Tim Wackel, a sales expert, has used his advisory blog to achieve massive popularity. When you have this type of site, your best bet is to choose a highly specific niche; most all-purpose general advice has already been dispensed, so you’ll need to find some topics that haven’t yet been explored.
Even if you never monetize your site, you might be able to sell out for a pretty penny! If you build the traffic of your site or otherwise have an audience, there is value there. If the traffic is high enough, you could sell for a lot (think Twitter kind of traffic…). And of course, people buy brand new sites all the time that have no traffic or audience based on design and niche (but usually for very cheap).
Creating good products that are well made and polished require a ton of time and additional resources (like design, content, etc.). There’s a lot of ‘hidden costs’ in both time spent and the contractors to collaborate with. Selling your own products on your site also brings up problematic issues like payment gateways (how are you going to collect payment?), shipping (how are you going to mail or distribute the products?) and taxes (oh man, don’t even get me started with that one!).
If you are a confident web developer then designing your own themes is an obvious path to follow if you are looking to make money online. ThemeForest sells a wide assortment of developers themes, including themes for WordPress, Shopify, Weebly, and Tumblr, to name a few. Once you have created your theme, get it accepted onto the ThemeForest marketplace and make money each time it sells.

Weebly's app center offers free and premium options aimed at boosting site traffic. You also can add apps that make your site more engaging by enabling testimonials or other visitor comments. Build an email list to expand your audience. In fact, writer Jon Morrow says on the SmartBlogger site that developing an email list is vital to making money on your blog, and suggests offering a freebie in exchange for addresses.
Clearing out the clutter (#1) is one part of making the site easy for visitors to use. Another part is making it easy for them to do what they want to do. If they want to follow you on Twitter, is your Twitter info on every page or do they have to hunt for it? If they want to email you, is your contact page easily found? If they want to buy, are the purchase instructions and processes easy to follow? This all sounds like a no-brainer, but you’d be surprised at how many websites aren’t very good at making it easy for readers to do what they came to do.
Right on read, Robert. I am pretty well versed on the majority of methods you provide or touch on… however, the one I want to learn the most about “Content Locking” goes to an inactive link. My independent search isn’t doing much better. Is there something on the serious downside to this monetization method? Can you lead me to something that provides; pros, cons, and/or the how-tos of Content Locking?
The attorney prepares the case submission, which consists of facts from the perspective of each party. EJury converts the attorney's case submission into an HTML format and posts it to a secure location on the website where only eJurors can access the case. EJurors review the facts of the case and answer questions, each clicking a "submit verdict" button upon completion.
Monetize that traffic. Once you have a reliable audience in place, you’ll need to find a way to monetize that traffic. This is easier than it might appear on the surface, as there are dozens of ways you can make money from a site that’s already seeing lots of traffic. For example, you could start selling products or offer consulting services, or you could sell advertising on your site. You could even use affiliate links in some of your blog posts to earn passive revenue that way.
“I went from a standing start and Laura's course has allowed me to easily market my products online and added over £15,000 to my bottom line in the past 6 weeks. I am so confident with what it does. I wanted to take my brand global and if you're looking to so the same, Laura's training allows you to effortlessly increase your brand while you get on with what you do best in your business. I would absolutely recommend it"
Hi Robert, your article is just spot on! Can’t think of any other ways of monetization (unless spamming can be included, lol). I think for a start before building your own website, one should already have a goal in mind of the general purpose of the site. For an instance, our website is made to promote our web design company; but in exchange, we should also offer valuable content to our audience not only pressuring them to acquire our services or click on profitable ads. Client service before anything else 🙂
No matter what method you select for generating your online income, there's one very important thing to understand. Today, across this globe, with its 7+ billion inhabitants, there are two recurring things that people are looking for more of. Either people want more time or they want more money. The truth? Time is far more valuable than money. You can't recreate time. Once it's spent, it's gone forever. Not money.
