I now have a general question that I hope you can address. My husband recently started a travel story/advice website in his first language, Spanish. He hopes to attract Google AdSense to it, but he understands that it will take time. I have just registered my own English site with SiteGround to offer the same content in English, but I don’t yet have an actual framework/theme for it. I’m not too concerned about that, as I can see that many themes would be suitable. I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the details and mechanics of getting this going, however. I don’t want to stumble now if I can do it right, even if it takes a bit longer. My husband’s brother-in-law started his own site a few years ago in Italy and began to make a very lot of money. He then increased his efforts to several more sites, which made him even more money, but then the profits started to fall. My husband and I suspect that he actually decreased his own traffic with the new sites. We would like to have one quality site in 2 languages, which hopefully make money later; but we aren’t greedy and I feel strongly about creating decent content. The main thing is to get some traffic before you can start to think about how to make money. Usually bloggers and webmasters create their website just to make money online and don’t care about their readers. I see this pattern on your website as well. You don’t have any traffic and have a very little content but have done everything to create a landing page and try to promote it everywhere on your blog. This approach never works as planned because users don’t like to read blogs that are trying to sell things to them. Once you gain some credibility as a blogger you can try to monetize your traffic.

If either of them had sales exceeding MyThemeShop by a great extent, they will make for better affiliate options but given that there isn’t too much of a difference, you will be better of using all three affiliate programs. Pro Blogger is an excellent example of a site with a very profitable job board system. When I checked out their job board, they had about 30 job openings advertised on 4 different pages, which means about 120 job postings. That translates to roughly $6000 revenue per month. To start your own job board you can use any of these WordPress themes and plugins.
SiteGround is costs the same as any other shared hosting provider but they have it’s own WordPress caching in place. They used to have reverse proxy style caching using Varnish but recently they made a switch to Nginx caching. I believe that they are using fastcgi cache which is much better suited for smaller websites than Varnish. Varnish is great for well trafficked websites and for small websites there are little to no benefit.
17. Amazon – Have you heard of FBA? It stands for “Fulfilled by Amazon” and it’s getting pretty popular. Basically, you buy products (in bulk is best) and ship them to Amazon for them to store. When your products sell, Amazon packs them up, ships them out and sends you the money (after taking their cut). There are people making a full-time living from FBA, while others just do it for some extra money.
How much will you make? I think my best month with Google AdSense was almost $5,000 over the last ten years. That amazing month blew my mind since it was actually near the beginning of my blogging journey. When you go from making zero to $5,000 in a month, that will rock your world. For me, it also got me even more excited because I knew there were other ways to monetize.
